The Roots Duo are an acoustic reggae pop duo who have been playing together for over 8 years.

Their sound is largely thanks to the outstanding vocal abilities of singer/songwriter Desta Zion Wilson who has performed and recorded with a host of well known artists including Beverly Knight, Gabriela Cilmi & Russell Watson. Desta is also an accomplished artist in his own right, and fronts established reggae band “Mighty Leap,” who have supported such reggae names as The Wailers, Dawn Penn, The Upsetters, Dreadzone, and Easy Star All Stars.

Also a founding member of “Mighty Leap”, Adam Millest, who accompanies Desta on percussion, boasts an extensive CV as a freelance musician, having worked across a variety of scenarios, including cruise-ships, musicals, festivals and tours.

The repertoire of the band is broad bringing in a lot of different genres from reggae to soul, rock and roll and pop. All played with a roots feel to create a really strong alternative to the a more traditional duo.
