When you are organising entertainment for your summer ball it is sometimes difficult to come up with new ideas. Here at Yes Entertainment we love the challenge so here are a few of our summer ball entertainment ideas to get you started.
1. Theme your summer ball
Coming up with an overall theme for the event can make life a lot easier when it comes to ideas for entertainment for your ball. It also makes it easier to decorate the rooms and create any marketing you need. Once you have decided on your theme try and stick to it as closely as you can for everything. Look for acts that fit, decorations that work, ways to get your caterers and guests involved etc. You don’t have to be to clever necessarily and if in doubt get the pirates out! Its easy, can be done cheaply and there is no one on the planet (and we mean no one!) who doesn’t enjoy dressing up as a pirate no matter how many times they have done it before. Its in the blood!
2. Summer ball costumed meet & greet characters
Once you have decided on your theme there is nothing like having a few appropriately dressed actors round the place for the first couple of hours to get your guests into the swing of things. Nothing breaks the ice better than a fire eating, stilt walking pirate (whoops pirates again) swinging his cutlass at your guests.
3. Summer ball games that introduce your guests to each other
A summer ball, at least a good one, tends to be a rather long affair so a few different activities and entertainment for those that don’t just want to drink, eat and dance all night can work very well. With a bit of planning you can also involve your characters in a led mystery of some kind or a treasure hunt (buried presumably. OK enough with the pirates!). Depending on the type of event if you can get people into teams based on the seating plan you can ensure that whilst they may not know each other at the start of the evening by the end of the night they are lifelong friends. Believe us when we say that we have played at lots of events where the guests round the tables don’t know each other and they can be really stuffy evenings that are hard to get going.
4. Rides & stalls for summer balls
Depending on the size of your summer ball maybe a full blown fair ground is appropriate. But if you are organising a smaller event you can still get a bit of adrenalin into the evening. Hiring a bucking bronco is a great shout particularly for later in the evening when a bit of dutch courage has flowed. Our machines are operated by experienced professionals who know how and when to tip people off so that they have a great time but don’t come a cropper. A bank of fairground stalls from coconut shy to rifle ranges is another way to keep guests occupied and ensure there is something going on in every room or part of the grounds. Finally of course no summer ball is complete without a really cracking live band and a fantastic DJ. Many of our live bands have summer ball experience as do our DJs so they know how to fill the dance floor with your guests and keep them there.
